About the role:

We are looking for an Italy Iberia Business Development Lead to build strategic commercial relationships across Southern Europe.

This is a senior commercial role with future regional leadership potential. The right person has direct experience in vending, payments, convenience retail, micro-markets, retail automation, or adjacent operator networks.

For candidates who can start immediately, there may be an opportunity to join the founding team in San Francisco for an intensive onboarding and company-building period at a prestigious accelerator.

This is an early role with significant growth potential for the right candidate.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build the commercial pipeline across Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

  • Develop relationships with relevant operators, manufacturers, payment providers, distributors, retail groups, and location owners.

  • Identify and secure early pilot opportunities.

  • Lead senior meetings, demos, follow-up, and commercial conversations.

  • Help convert interest into letters of intent, pilots, partnerships, and contracts.

  • Build a structured CRM and partner pipeline.

  • Work with product and engineering to translate market feedback into clear requirements.

  • Support launch planning, field deployments, and customer success for early pilots.

  • Help define the future regional sales and operations organization.

     

Requirements:

Direct experience in at least one of the following is required:

  • Vending machine industry

  • Coffee vending / office coffee service

  • Payments / payment terminals / POS / merchant acquiring

  • Convenience stores or convenience retail

  • Unattended retail

  • Micro-markets

  • Retail automation

  • Self-service kiosks

  • Food service automation

  • Operator networks or route-based retail operations

  • Strong network in Italy, Spain, Portugal, or Southern Europe.

  • Ability to sell to traditional industrial and retail stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand conversations around machines, payments, inventory, telemetry, field service, and operator economics.

  • English required.

  • Italian required.

  • Willingness to travel frequently.

     

Must Haves:

  • Experience working directly with vending OEMs, vending operators, payment companies, convenience retailers, coffee machine companies, or distributors.

  • Experience launching pilots for new retail or industrial technology.

  • Experience building a country or regional sales pipeline from scratch.

  • Experience with channel partnerships, strategic accounts, or hardware-plus-software products.

 

Success in the first 90 days:

  • You map the regional market and identify priority partners.

  • You create a qualified pipeline of customers and partners.

  • You secure senior meetings with high-value prospects.

  • You help convert at least one serious pilot opportunity into an agreed next step.

 

Success in the first 6-12 months:

  • The company has active or contracted pilots in Italy, Spain, or Portugal.

  • The regional pipeline is structured and repeatable.

  • You are on track to become a local GM or regional commercial leader.
